The Middle Township Police Department maintains a fully operational and Certified Marine Search and Recovery Dive Team. Team operations are supervised by Lieutenant Ken Martin and Corporal John Norton. The department maintains 2 vessels: one is a Carolina Skiff center console, and the other is an aluminum johnboat.
The department has nine certified divers with a full complement of dive equipment. The team trains in local gravel pits, lakes, and in the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean. The team also attends and assists as a safety element at the Polar Plunge events in Wildwood, Stone Harbor, and Sea Isle City as well as the Ocean City Air Show. The team has also been utilized many times to assist the US Coast Guard and other agencies in rescue and recovery operations.
