The Middle Township Police Department maintains a fully operational and Certified Marine Search and Recovery Dive Team. The team is overseen by Lt. Robert Shepherd, with operations being supervised by Det/Sgt. Clinton Stocker.  The department maintains 2 vessels: one is a Carolina Skiff center console, and the other is an aluminum johnboat.

The department has nine certified divers with a full complement of dive equipment.  The team had thirty-four training sessions in 2016. Training takes place in local gravel pits, lakes, and in the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean. The team also attended/assisted with the Wildwood Polar Plunge, Stone Harbor Polar Plunge, Sea Isle Polar Plunge, Ocean City Air Show, National Night Out, the county 4-H Fair as well as the Middle Township L.E.A.D day. The team has been utilized many times to assist the US Coast Guard and other agencies in rescue and recovery operations.
