Lieutenant of Operations

Lieutenant Ronald Miller born and raised in Kensington, Philadelphia, he later moved to Lower Township with his family in 1991, where he graduated from Lower Cape May Regional High

School in 1996. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Ashworth University in 2005.

Miller’s law enforcement career began in 1999 as a Parking Enforcement Officer for the City of Wildwood. Subsequently, he joined the North Wildwood Police Department as a Seasonal Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer in 2000, after graduating from the Cape May County Police Academy. After that summer season he was hired as a Seasonal Class II Special Officer for the Borough of West Cape May and Lower Township. During that time, he became a Part-Time Police Dispatcher for the Middle Township Police Department getting certified as a 911 Operator. In 2002, he was hired as a Full-Time Correctional Officer by the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department and graduated from the Atlantic County Correctional Academy. In 2005, he was hired by the Middle Township Police Department as a Full-Time Police Officer and was a graduate of the Gloucester County Police Academy

Lieutenant Miller has worked most of his career in the Patrol Division but did several detachments with the Middle Township Street Crimes Unit from 2007-2010. In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal within the Patrol Division. In 2021, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant within the Patrol Division and became the Unit Leader of the Honor Guard. In 2022, he became the Sergeant of the Special Services Unit, where he supervised the department’s School Resource Officers, Training Officers, Community Police Officers, as well as overseeing the L.E.A.D. Program, Middle Township Police Youth Camp, National Night Out and organized various Community Events. Lieutenant Miller also volunteers his time at the No Limits Boxing Academy to assist and promote positive interactions between the youth in our community and local law enforcement.

During his career with the Middle Township Police Department, Lieutenant Miller served as a member of the Accident Reconstruction Team, the Middle Township Street Crimes Unit, a Field Training Officer, Bicycle Patrol Unit, and Honor Guard.  From 2010 to 2021, he served as a Swat Operator for the Cape May County Regional Swat Team in which he was certified as an explosive breaching operator and less lethal weapons operator. Lieutenant Miller is currently a Departmental Firearms and Rifle Instructor. Lieutenant Miller previously held the position of President for the Police Benevolent Association Local #59 between 2010 and 2016. Lieutenant Miller was a graduate of Front-Line Supervision Course in 2017. In 2022 Lieutenant Miller attended and graduated from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police’s Command and Leadership Academy.

In 2024, Lieutenant Miller was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant overseeing the Patrol Division and Training Unit.
